How I found out. Chapter 3 |

Bobby’s birth certificate Meanwhile I went again to the Family Records Office. This time I wanted Bobby’s birth certificate. But they told me that Scottish records were now kept in Edinburgh, so I rang them up and sent for it, and it came. Bobby was born on 22 November 1948 in the Scottish Highlands. Bobby had told me that where she came from was very pretty. I decided to go to Scotland where she was born. But I would need more information about her family, so I sent for her parents' marriage certificate. The Coroner’s Office An inquest was held on Bobby at the Inner West London Coroner’s Court (now called Westminster Coroner's Court), so I wrote to them to ask if I could see the records. They were very helpful but at first they were unable to find anything. But eventually they did, and they very kindly sent me photocopies of several documents which at last threw full light on what had happened to Bobby in the last few years. Above all it was now clear from the documents that Bobby had been diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease in 1978 and that by 1987 the disease had progressed to such a point that Bobby decided to end her life. My search still continued for Tim Miller. I went to various churches to see if anyone knew of older probation officers who might know Tim Miller, but no luck. Bobby’s parents’ marriage certificate I received Bobby’s parents' marriage certificate, which gave me more information which would help me find any relatives who might still live in Scotland. They were married in a small fishing village in Scotland. How I found out. 4 |
