Bobby and I and what happened. Chapter 4: First Date |
There seemed to
be a new man in the neighbourhood, a very good-looking man whom I saw in the distance often talking to other gay men.
 One day when I was walking down Ledbury Road I saw him walking towards me, and when he came close I saw that he had a beautiful feminine face. Do you want to go out for a drink? he
said. Yes, I replied, and we made an arrangement to go to the
Chepstow Arms that night for a drink. When I arrived outside the pub
I saw that he wasn’t there and I felt deflated. Then I turned around
and I saw a beautiful woman in designer clothes smiling at me. Hello, she said, it’s me, it’s Bobby, and as realisation dawned I
was led to the pub. Come on, she said, let’s go in for a drink. I
don’t know what happened then, but as soon as Bobby had come back
with the drinks and we sat together side by side, I kissed her again
and again. Even Bobby seemed amazed by my reaction but she kissed me
back sweetly.
 Then suddenly I heard a horrible harsh voice shouting
at me to get out of his pub, he didn’t want lesbians in his pub.
That was the first and last time I have ever been thrown out of a
pub as a lesbian or anything else. But I don’t regret that evening
one bit. Every experience with Bobby was always a one-off and I will
always remember that night. I only wish she were here now
so that I
could tell her so.
